December.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

Do you remember how it feels like to be sitting around, engaged in your own conversations, trying to piece your life together? There isn’t any broken toy left to fix, there isn’t any unfinished conversation that have yet to be heard, and the broken hearts that were left behind to be healed. We find passion and love in different things, things that keeps us sane, things that we would be constantly inspired to give chase to. Sometimes that moment pass us by, we miss that chance, that opportunity, and then we look back to see how far we’ve come.

Are you happy now?

These secrets

"Is this the life, the life that you’ve always dreamed of? The life in your dreams?"

Love was about dealing with real compassion, it was definitely not a measure of time. This new beginning in December, have endowed upon us with a modicum of confident grace, even when I was thrown into a world where the problems thundered in like freight trains, where nothing else really mattered.

Hocus-pocus - Love is definitely not a panacea for weak minds. It was, the faint line of hope that I never gave up on, the glimmer against our necks as pale as winter. Someone once told me, “When love comes, it happens. And you don’t even need to try." Let the echoes of your dreams unfold, as you stand there and watch them fall into place - You and us, against the rising sun.

Long gone.

The realization when reality hits you in the face, the pain that you’ve been feeding off the past few weeks would soon be long gone. The ache that serves as a constant reminder that you’re still alive, every single day. It’s not over.

You try to seek motivation like a needle in the haystack, watch the raindrops hit the pavements as you forgot how it feels like, to be caught in an embrace, and an embrace of love, faith, and humanity. You press on for the good hurt, while the 4am nightmares continue to squeeze you dry. When procrastination and stress interludes for a brief moment, struggles you fight off to keep you sane, tomorrow will be better you say. Tomorrow, things might be different.

Your tears have mixed with the hot tea you’ve set. You drew a large breath of the monsoon air. You took a seat by the balcony amidst the sunset. You look at the empty seat in front of you. What have changed?

You found that you’ve felt your own heart to set his free.

The world without wings

"When it was over, all I could think about was how the entire notion of oneself, what we are, is just this logical structure, a place to momentarily house all abstractions. It was a time to become conscious, to give form and coherence to the mystery, and I had been a part of that. It was a gift. Life was raging all around me and every moment was magical. I loved all the people, dealing with all the contradictory impulses - that’s what I love the most, connecting with the people. Looking back, that’s all that really mattered."

- Waking Life

The beauty of life, the beauty of perception. And it was all that really mattered.

My 2 weeks hasn’t been good, and I’ve recently pulled an all nighter for the past 2 nights. And once my mid terms end (tomorrow), I can’t wait to… Catch up on my sleep, on all the lectures I haven’t been diligently going, go for classes, and spend more time with Jy. Oh and finals is in 6 weeks.

Tick. Tock.

Food

I’m a big fan of food. And when my mid-terms end, I’m taking my boyfriend with me.

Too fast

I take a serving of each, in any buffet that I go for, eating and drinking, walking and talking… We may not eat its worth, but small simple servings can approximately serve up to a 12-course (or even more) meal. I always start with sashimi, and end with a whole load of dessert with a cup of hot coffee. I loved the duck and beef in red wine sauce especially…

I went out alone 2 days ago and dumped a lot of comfort food ingredients into my grocery basket, planning to cook them whenever I’m free - Gwen cooked Minced Beef Tomato Sauce for me last night while they had Home Cooked Flower Crab and Hokkien Mee with Prawns. Today I walked along the Baking section and got some baking needs… Everything in life is so fast-paced, can Autumn wait?

Set yourself free

Here’s the truth about September:

It sneaks up on you and all of a sudden it’s autumn
and you don’t know what to do with your recently orphaned August daydreams
so you tuck them between the pages of brand new notebooks
and leave them in the corners of your sweatshirt pockets to gather lint
and you set them on fire until all the trees are smoldering red and orange and yellow.

If you spent half of your life seeking for something, like love, and people like them walk in, you stop seeking for the half, and place all hopes in the other. If I worked harder when I was half my age, these would all be a metaphor for something greater, say things that I haven’t thought before. Now I am… Replacing my books and getting my hands tied on programming, on a new language like any other, learning the conversation from scratch. I have been flipping this coin my entire life, now stopped at an impasse, I can’t outdo the odds anymore.

There is nothing sad about a broken heart. Sometimes our dreams shatter, sometimes the pain disappears, and we grow too fond to be fearful of the night. I lay awake in bed, unsure of how I should feel - If I even had answers to these doldrums, I had his arms to lay in, to wake up to the 17th in the mid of September. It will all end, this exuberance will all end, and the results will leave you in desolate sadness.

Do

I figured being in University woud swell, and I’m just not used to it. This daily routine of catching, of chasing dreams, of being competent. Today I told my friend, we just have to try… Try to fine tune this dream, try to sync ourselves, like a shuffle to a mac.

I’d like to share this song, it’s gonna bring back memories, it’s gonna hurt… But it doesn’t sting as much anymore. Love is for the brave, and for the strong.

The Birthday Weekend

It was definitely a weekend retreat after a long hectic week of school. This friendship didn’t just come like that. It was built over time, something that comes with time, age, and all our stories from the past and present. The 91s sat in bed and walked to Marina Bay, and shared every painful memory from the past that was so endearing to hear. These are the long nights through the crack of dawn that I’ll never forget.

Happy 21st Jotham!

Happy Birthday Mummy - Singapore Seafood Republic

A hand made card drawn by yours truly xx

If you have been around, you might be reading too much on my friends, on Jy and a little less about my family. My family is a gem to me, though technology seemed keep us more occupied with our personal work (I’m studying technology by the way - cliche), there’s still a lot that we can talk about over meals, and long trips in the car in the middle of a jam. So… I have too much work in University, we focus too much on our computers more than 8 hours a day - With programming, research, tutorials… But nothing’s more important than celebrating the loveliest lady’s birthday, Happy Birthday Mummy.

No matter where I am… There’s always a never ending long list of work to clear, and now that it’s September, there is a queue of birthdays lined up later in the month. More advice from the current University undergraduates - mid-terms are only less than a month away and we’ve barely started on our assignments due soon, yet. My study tables are in such a mess, sometimes I don’t know what I’m hiding between those books anymore…

My current favorite song on replay is No Ceiling by Eddie Vedder, by the way. Tell me if you like it too. Have a great weekend!

P.S - Dishes in order (Appetiser - A cha, Tofu Skin with Mushrooms(Not Captured), Kang Kong, Fried You Tiao with Cuttlefish Paste, Deer Meat with Spring Onions, Singapore Style Chilli Crab, Fried Mini Buns) Almost sensational.
