Genting with family

2 weeks ago, I took 3 days off and headed to Genting with my mom and grammy (at the same time, missing 3 birthdays over the weekend). This trip was really different - The adults spent almost all their time in the casinos, I did too. But at the same time I slept more, ate more, watched more TV, read more books - Joyce said it means taking a break from everything, it means no internet, no data and no connection.

As a being, there is so much that I am inspired by, so much that I would love to accomplish within this holidays (almost the last I’ll ever enjoy in my uni life) but I… Ended up with a part time job and now that I’m taking a week’s break from it, staying at home trying to come up with something productive is almost sucking me dry.

Travels are good as far as the memories leave you. It gets addictive, it starts you saving, and it is the window and the first baby step to almost everything.

Aztec in 2011

A little badass in Genting, 2011 and almost perfect with 2 dogs and new bought Alex. Love you sweetheart.

Fireworks

Probably one of the prettiest close-up fireworks I’ve ever seen with the perfect company on a cargo box. It was sooo amazing I stopped taking photos and had to video the entire process instead. Ken and I left to Madagascar store to buy penguin alex for Justin (Bald and fat) so I sat him in front of the bike all the way home.

It’s been a while, work gets a little too crazy sometimes, and now I’m free till the end of the month to spend time with myself, time with commitments I haven’t had time to catch up on, extra sessions in the gym, and learn to control the excessive greedy eating habit - even when I’m not hungry.

Marmalade Pantry

Waaaayyyy overdue brunch with Pei Khee since school ended - No more morning marketing lectures and tutorials to sit through and lasted very happy with shopping and short talks. We ordered The Pantry Club and Seared Scallop Linguini  from The Marmalade Pantry to share. I thought the sandwich had a really unique taste. The last was the Sticky Date and Toffee Pudding. I loved it the most and I really couldn’t get over it even after brunch.

We ended up all over the place before I had to leave to meet Justin for some thai food at Nakhon Kitchen (At Hougang) and supper at Selegie Tau Huay. I always feel hungry and over eat :( Been craving for it for quite a while, since our last pot luck over at Bao’s place during New Year!

If you dream, dream big.

It’s been a long time, and I actually met my primary school friend at the same place that I’m currently working part-time at. It really is a small world. So one day, we decided to meet for lunch at Crystal Jade and settled for their 拉面, and time and again I’m still back for the one served with beef.

Last night, Justin and I laid in bed with 2 pints of Erdinger, watching an old movie, Flipped, starred in 2010. I found it amazing and perfect for a bed-time show, although it seemed a little complicated at first, but I found myself falling in love with it towards the end, the words they used, and how their lives were perfectly in sync with one another.

Juli Baker: I guess it’s something about his eyes or maybe his smile.
Richard Baker: And what about him?
Juli Baker: What?
Richard Baker: You have to look at the whole landscape.
Juli Baker: What does that mean?
Richard Baker: A painting is more then the sum of it’s parts. A cow by itself is just A cow. A meadow by itself is just grass, flowers. And the sun picking through the trees, is just a beam of light. But you put them all together and it can be magic.

It’s true. More often than not, we neglect the whole landscape, the whole picture. Now it seems to fall into place. I used to think I’m a trouble, especially at work, especially when I’m new with or to something. But someone told me, as long as you put your heart into learning, you amaze yourself with the results and it will do wonders. Last Thursday, I amazed myself. I ended my day truly happy despite waking up early in the morning to attempt 15 mins at the gym. It was worth it.

Chet Duncan: Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss; but every once in a while, you find someone who’s iridescent, and once you do, nothing will ever compare.

I loved this film. If you’re reading this, watch it. I hope you’ll love it as much as I do, too.
