Around Berkeley's Hood

I could vividly remember my 9 hours flight transit from Narita to San Francisco - I fell asleep for what seemed like only an hour, and for the remaining 8 hours I was caught up watching movies on board - Chasing Mavericks, Million Dollar Baby and maybe a few more that I probably drifted in and out of sleep in between. My ear drums hurt excessively from the constant plug-in of my earphones before it really gave me a headache and maybe what seemed like a jet lag or lack of sleep, possibly.

We had issues with the delivery of our checks to move into our apartment from Singapore to Berkeley, and it didn’t arrive on the day that we did. We were all tired, jet lagged, and I couldn’t decide if I was too full from the constant meal servings on the plane or I was hungry. I managed to skype Juju from the airport before we managed to take Bart down to Downtown Berkeley (and an adventure it was indeed). So my roommates and I walked University Avenue looking for a motel, inn or lodge that actually opens on Sundays and finally found Travelodge - Paid 146usd for a night (?!) there and it was how it looked like from the movies.

It was probably the worst night in Berkeley - I woke up at 12, went back to sleep at 2, woke up at 6 and watched the news on TV on Bart’s strike. That was then… I still love cereal with milk mornings, and the cool weather I get to wake up to in summer. But I really miss the warmth of the sun sometimes.

Fraenkel Gallery in San Francisco

I guess I found comfort back in my original space where I started writing (decently) before I moved to blogspot, and now I’m back because I realized the kind of ads, links, and sidebars were not what I wanted to have right from the start. I just loved taking photos, uploading them and add another chunk of “How’s my day” kind-of texts.

It’s been quite a long while since I filled anyone up with what’s going on in my life… I’m currently in California, Berkeley and 2 weeks ago my classmates and I went on a field trip to 49 Geary Street in San Francisco and visited the galleries, but Fraenkel Gallery with Nicholas Nixon’s work is currently my favorite and tops the list of photographers that I really love. The emotions related through his photos is exceptional and extraordinary that I could comfortably relate and be at ease with.

My days here had been cold, of 12 to 20 degrees every single day. Summer made the day here pretty long, and I get to go home after school at 7 with a pretty bright skyline. As much as I would love to sit atop my roof and watch the sunset, I get home feeling tired, with a desire to get a workout but never really made myself do it. I miss being back home where I was more disciplined than I am right now. I am disappointed :( Notwithstanding the fact that I am spending so much on shopping and food every day.

Hello from San Francisco!

This was taken on our road trip from LA to Vegas. It got pretty warm and I woke up to this breathtaking view that kept me awake, at least for a while. I promise to post pictures I've curated over the past few weeks and the coming 2 months, but I think I've been so busy traveling, moving and settling down it gets a little hard. I miss my boyfriend.
